Why a Rainbow?

We got the bad news in June (1999). The cancer was growing and it was all over her body. Kristina wasn't going to get better. We cried. Why her? Why this child so full of life and love? We made the decision - no experimental treatments (without reasonable expectations) she had been through enough. She would live out her life at home surrounded by the people who loved her. It was a VERY long summer. It was so hard to watch this child, my child, who was always so full of life and love, deteriorate bit by bit. We loved her too much not to endure whatever was necessary to keep her at home and comfortable. On September 3, 1999 she went to be with God. Kristina was now our angel in heaven.

As hard as the summer was, living without her was harder. Even though my heart believed that Kristina was at peace and happy in God's arms, my mind wondered if it was so. I prayed to God to help me - to give me a sign that she was with Him. The next evening, on my way to return a movie, I was confronted by the most amazing rainbow in the sky. Kristina was smiling at me from heaven as she was doing a cartwheel in the sky. You ask, " Why a rainbow?" Kristina is my rainbow.
